Hawar International School (HIS) was established in 2001 by a group of dedicated Bahraini professionals wishing to provide a bilingual education of excellence from Nursery and KG to Grade 12 in a learner friendly environment while preserving the culture and heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic society. HIS has introduced the Cambridge curriculum from 2018-2019  for K – 8 and has started the IGCSE curriculum for Grade 9 from 2019 – 2020.

We started with kindergarten through to the third grade of elementary school. Today we have a population of nearly 1000 students with our first graduating cohort from high school in the academic year of 2010.

The location of the school was selected to establish the school through studying the development of the region and where a lack of distinctive educational services or where educational services were limited by what was offered from the public schools. The goal was to offer this unique service to integrate our education system in which the country’s government ensures to provide integrated educational services in all parts of the Kingdom.

We were well placed to be the first school in the Kingdom of Bahrain offering students with special needs services from learning and physical difficulties and underachieving in schools that did not have any attention or appropriate services. In addition to that we offered excellent services for mainstream and talented students, and the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed our school philosophy and provided all possible moral support to implement the project and the proposed ratio for special education students was twenty percent of the total number of students in the school.

Admission Requirements

The criteria for admitting new students to Hawar International School are based upon several factors. These include:

• The past records of the applicant from his previous school
• Passing the entrance exams,
• Passing an interview,
• Having a good behavior record in the previous school.
• For students with Special Educational Needs, an educational psychologist’s report is required before entry to HIS will be considered. The school has the right to request this information if the school believes the child has learning needs based on test results and previous school reports. Availability in the appropriate Grade level, students will be placed on a waiting list when there is no availability. Priority is given to the brothers and sisters of HIS students, and to the applicants who have the best results. Once a new student joins HIS, the student and the parents must abide by all school rules and policies.
