Kumon is one of the world’s largest supplementary education providers, offering individualised maths and English programmes to help any child of any ability to progress and reach their potential. Our aim is for every child to become an independent, advanced learner with a positive attitude to study. The Kumon Method of Learning enables children to self-learn with Instructor guidance, helping students to take charge of their own learning journey and develop the confidence to strive for their goals and aspirations.

The Kumon Institute of Education was founded in 1958 in Japan, by Toru Kumon, both a parent and gifted maths teacher. He created what is now the Kumon Maths Programme for his son Takeshi, to help him improve his ability in maths. Our programmes now develop English skills, as well as maths, and are constantly evolving, learning from students and Instructors, to make them as effective as possible. Kumon still stands firm to Toru Kumon’s founding principle; to help as many children as possible excel academically and realise their potential. We can help give your child the tools for a lifelong love of learning.

The Kumon Method of Learning is designed to help any child of any ability progress to their maximum potential and become enthusiastic learners. Through worksheet study and Instructor guidance, students work at the ‘just-right’ level to build ability and fluency in small manageable steps. Students move up through worksheet levels only when comfortable with current work, ensuring they establish solid learning foundations and confidence in their ability.

Our study programmes are designed to help learners think for themselves and develop strong problem-solving skills, using worksheet examples to try to work out answers independently. Our Instructors observe students learning, using their patience and judgement to offer guidance only when necessary to develop each child’s ability to self-learn. Our worksheet-based study programmes have evolved over the course of 60 years, learning from our students about how best to help them succeed, build confidence and develop self-learning skills for a bright future.

FAQ

No. Digital worksheets via Kumon Connect are the same price as traditional paper worksheets.

The instructor should be able to handle most technical issues. If the instructor is unable to resolve, they can consult with Kumon staff trained to handle the technical issue.

Yes. There may be instances when digital worksheets are not available (such as the device breaking, stylus not working, etc.). In these cases, the instructor can distribute paper worksheets as normal until the digital worksheets become accessible again.

Outside of short-term technical issues with digital worksheets, students would not do a combination of both paper and digital worksheets in the same subject.

The instructor would be able to provide paper worksheets for that class session or possibly provide a tablet to use that day.

Centers can administer achievement tests on the tablet or on paper.

Currently Kumon Connect covers Math levels 6A-O and Reading levels 7A-FII. Additional levels will be added in future.

No. Kumon Connect is a web-based app that is accessed from a web browser with a shortcut downloaded to the tablet home screen. Access details are provided by your Kumon Instructor.
